Jake and I were lucky enough to be able to spend a couple of days on vacation to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We decided on Salt Lake for several reasons. Thanks to an amazing Christmas present from Jake's parents we were able to stay at the Anniversary Inn in Salt Lake and leave the kids at our house with them.
This is on the roof of the parking structure right by our hotel. Salt Lake City is in the background.
The City is in the background and the capital is to the right.
Jake tried to make a snowball to show Maverick but the snow was too powdery. It fell through his hands. I have been told that it is perfect snow for skiing but not snowballs..
We went on a shopping hunt looking for winter hats... We took this picture at the Trolley Square Mall. No luck finding a winter hat under $20 there..
We spent some time at Temple Square before dinner and took the Trax over to
another mall by the Delta Center.. Oops! I mean the Energy Solutions Areana. :)

We had a great dinner at The Roof in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The views are BEAUTIFUL!!
We did find hats at Old Navy. It helped a TON!!
Here we are after dinner in Temple Square with our hot chocolate!
A missionary was kind enough to take a picture of us together in the Tabernacle.
It was amazing to spend a couple of days relaxing and revisiting old places. We wanted to stop in Provo on the way home and visit BYU and Training Table again but the snow storm made us drive straight home... I was upset we only got to eat at Training Table once during our trip. :)
We also saw Avatar while we were in Salt Lake. We saw it in the IMAX 3D Theater, sitting in the front row on the very left side. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. (the seats) The movie was pretty good but I think we will rent it in case we missed some stuff.

And thank you to both of you for letting us hang out with the grand-kids..we had a blast! You look so happy in your pics..you need to start planning for your next getaway trip..oh, & don't forget our 40th anniversary family trip to Kauai..maybe you could have a week to yourselves in Hawaii while we watch the grandkids?? Sounds like fun! We have 4 years to plan it..I can hear that Hawaiian music calling me now...love you all! MOM Melissa & DAD Jack
We were actually just talking about doing the same thing because our Anniversary lands on MLK B-day weekend. Looking at your trip just makes me really want to do it. I'm so glad you guys got some time away without the kiddos...that's always good for the mom. =)
We are also planning on going to The Roof for our 10th anniversary next month. We plan on staying at the Hotel Monaco as well. We chose The Roof because they cater to a celiac restrictive diet. Since we live in the area, we thought we would do an anniversary vacation to California to visit Jack, Melissa, Christy and families and go to Yosemite. Charles has traveled all over the world in his military career, but has never been to Yosemite. Maybe we'll bring our Meade telescope with us.
